There are quite a few attachment options available for lapel pins.  Which option you choose depends on how you plan to use you them. Though most people assume lapel pins are only worn on clothing, the truth is, they are used on hats, scarves, model planes, cardstock and much more.  Understanding the differences between each of our attachments is the key to choosing the right one for your order of custom lapel pins. What Are Your Options? Signature Pins currently offers eight different attachment options. Six of the options fall into one of three different categories: magnetic, safety pin, and clutch. The remaining two attachments, cufflinks and key rings, are not as widely used as the others. For now, we will highlight the features of the magnetic, safety pin and clutch options. Magnet Lapel Pins Are Your “No Holes” Choice If you want to display lapel pins proudly without damaging your clothing, then our two-piece clothing magnet is the best option for you. A strong magnet will hold your lapel pin in place without creating holes in the garment.  This is also a good choice if you want to affix your custom pins onto model planes or other metal based objects. Safety Pin Attachments Keep Pins Secure Thicker fabrics make it difficult for pins using a traditional closure to say in place.  For dense articles of clothing and material, Signature Pins suggests utilizing the safety pin attachment. The added support from its length combined with the locking mechanism makes it ideal for heavy sweaters and sport jackets. Clutch Options That Suit Your Needs and Style Our clutch attachments are available in four different types.  The main differences between each one are the appearance, material, how they work, and size of the respective post. The post is the small metal peg-like piece that sticks-out from the back of the pin and pierces the garment.  The clutch is the closure that grips the post and secures the pin in place. Traditional Butterfly and Rubber Clutches are the standard attachments we offer. The post size for this option is an 8mm. The butterfly clutch is plated to match the metal of pin and is a great way to secure your lapel pin to most materials.  Customers can choose either the butterfly or a black rubber clutch for free with their orders. The Deluxe Clutch is an alternative to the butterfly or rubber clutch.  This attachment offers a locking feature that clamps it securely to the post of your lapel pins. The Jewelry Clutch is the most traditional attachment and locks on to the 10mm post. The jewelry clutch is the same attachment that can be used as a tie-tack, except it does not feature the chain or bar to secure a tie. The Screw Back Attachment is perfect for attaching pins to leather biker or club jackets.  This type comes with a 10mm post and twist on attachment.  With the pin being screwed in rather than snapped into place, there is no need to worry about losing the lapel pin on road trips.
