Backing Options for Your Patches
Deciding how your custom patches will be affixed to items is just as important as creating the design itself. We currently offer five backing choices for all of our patches.
The first two, No Backing and PVC backing, are available at no additional cost to the customer. A patch with no backing will need to be sewn onto the garment. PVC is a plastic polymer which is applied to the back of the patch to seal and protect the threads. Patches with PVC backing have to be sewn on as well.
Third is the Heat transfer, also known as Iron-On backing, is the most common type used. It allows you to permanently bond your personalized patch to clothing, hats, bags or other articles using the heat of an iron.
As far as removable options, and the last two,
Signature Patches offers both Peel and Stick and Velcro backing. Both of these options are ideal for situations in which patches need to be frequently replaced or rotated. Between the two, Velcro offers the most resistance to wear and tear as well as longevity and versatility.
The Versatility of Velcro Patches
Velcro backing comes with both the hook side and soft side. Both sides are cut to the shape of a patch and come in sizes up to 4.5 inches. The hook side is sewn onto your personalized patch. The soft side remains free for attachment to the garments of your choice.
Velcro backing allows you to remove the patch for laundering. Clubs and organizations can use this type of patch to commemorate special points in time and anniversaries. Velcro patches are also perfect for members of the armed forces who are required to change locations and prefer to don patches that relate to where they are.
