Custom Mardi Gras Pins: Festive Designs From the French Quarter

A Variety of Designs All Made for Mardi Gras

Before spring rolls around every year, we have the chance to work on quite a few Mardi Gras pins. Not all of them are sent off to New Orleans, although we do make a lot of Mardi Gras Krewe pins for the parades and parties throughout the French Quarter.

Mardi Gras is celebrated all over, and you might be surprised by the variety of custom pins we help design that are inspired by the holiday. Now that Mardi Gras is right around the corner, we thought it would be fun to share three of our favorite pins inspired by the holiday and share the stories behind them.

Krewe Du Cirque’s King and Queen Mardi Gras Pin

This is a Mardi Gras Krewe pin designed for the king and queen of the Krewe Du Cirque in Alabama. The organization was established as a social club back in 2017 and has quickly grown into a well-known source of entertainment in the area. Money raised from their seasonal events, like the upcoming Mardi Gras Ball where these club pins will be handed out, is donated to local theater, arts and music education programs.

Besides Mardi Gras events, the Krewe also hosts a Kentucky Derby style Queen’s Luncheon every year, as well as a Roaring 20’s party, a Murder Mystery Party and an Annual Halloween Ball. The club has a “Royal Court” that includes Junior Maids of Mardi Gras and a king and queen who are chosen randomly each year from a pool of club members during the Halloween party.

This year’s king and queen, Lane and Shannon, decided that a fun pin design featuring a taste of the elaborate Mardi Gras garb guests can expect to see at this year's celebration was the perfect commemorative item to give away at the club’s event. The white glitter enamel gives the artwork a festive dazzling effect.

Maimonides Cancer Center’s Awareness Ribbon Pin

This soft enamel awareness ribbon pin is one of our all-time favorite Mardi Gras inspired designs. It was created for the Maimonides Cancer Center, which is the only full-service cancer center in Brooklyn, New York. Over the years, the center has brought together specialists who can diagnose and treat almost every kind of cancer there is, giving patients more than a fighting chance in their efforts to beat cancer.

Mardi Gras has always been a lively celebration, full of bright colors, loud music and every kind of beaded necklace you can imagine, so it may not seem like a likely inspiration for a cancer center pin. However, places like Maimonides are helping save lives every day, which will always be cause for celebration. And the patients that leave Maimonides cancer-free have high spirits akin to what you might find in the midst of a Mardi Gras Parade. So, these pins are a celebration of life, as much as they are a tool for raising awareness.

A Custom Mardi Gras Mask Pin for the Ages

MGM Travel designed these SOS at Sea pins for an upcoming Mardi Gras Cruise. Every year, the company puts together a special voyage to New Orleans, where guests can experience the real Mardi Gras throughout the French Quarter, as well on their ship.

The design of these pins is centered around one of the most famous symbols of Mardi Gras, which is, of course, a festive masquerade mask. Mardi Gras mask pins have always been a popular choice for the holiday, and it’s important to keep in mind that you don’t need to order a round lapel pin.

Creating a custom shaped Mardi Gras mask pin is always an option, and it’s possible to use custom design options like glitter enamel, gemstones and cut outs to make the mask look even more festive.
