Oversized Challenge Coins for Display

Signature Coins builds oversized challenge coins big enough to stand on a desktop or hang against a wall. We make them in exactly three sizes, 6, 10, and 12 inches, all in solid metal. Each one is big enough to read from across a room, and a normal challenge coin measures about 2 inches. A one-sided coin comes with a bracket for a wall or a podium, and two faces come with a stand for a desk or a shelf.

A pocket coin is something you carry and pull out to prove you belong, and the display coin makes that emblem permanent where your group lives. It belongs on a reception desk, a podium, a lobby or office wall, or the desk of the person it was made for. Visitors see the emblem before anyone speaks, and people who carry the small coin see a size that matches what it means to them. For years, customers asked us for a larger version they could put on display. These coins are made in the USA, and that is what made the work practical.

Who Orders Display Sized Coins

Groups order a display sized coin for the lobby or the reception desk, where a visitor can read the design before anyone says a word. The design members carry every day becomes a large piece that visitors notice as soon as they walk in. Companies order one so their own coin stays in the place people look, and the brand remains in metal for as long as that space is theirs. We enlarged a university’s official seal to display size, so a mark people know on sight can be shown at that size.

Some of these coins are ordered to honor one person, as a gift they can keep. A unit or a company commissions one as a long-service or retirement gift, large enough for that person to take in the whole design. Families and organizations order one as a memorial, so a seal or emblem can be displayed in a room people still use.

Enlarging the Coin You Already Carry

Many orders start from a coin we made or quoted for you. You enter that order or quote number on the form, or N/A if there is none. When we have the artwork on file, we enlarge that same design so it matches what people already carry. The designs we enlarge include seals, company and brand logos, service awards, and memorial emblems. The coin can stay round, or we cut a custom medallion to the design outline, such as a shield or a badge.

When we enlarge a coin you already carry, the art team takes care that the details still hold up at display size. Small lettering and fine edges get a close look, so they stay clear when the coin is read from several feet away. We have made custom coins since 2000, with an award-winning in-house art team.

Choosing a Size and a Mount

On your desk or along a shelf, the 6 inch size weighs about 1.67 lb and is usually enough. For a podium or a reception counter, you can choose the 10 inch size at about 4.66 lb. The 12 inch giant coin comes in around 6.71 lb and fits a lobby wall where people see it. A standard 2 inch coin is about 2.83 oz, and these weights are a guide because shape and design change them.

This piece is real metal, with the weight and the finish of the coin itself. That is why it looks like the original coin to anyone standing well back from it. The finish holds up when someone steps closer, the way it does on the coin people carry in daily use. When you pick it up, its weight confirms that it is the same kind of coin.
